CRLS Crew – Mass Pubs Recap and Thank You

Hello, CRLS Crew families!

Congratulations to the squad for a tremendous showing yesterday at Mass Publics!  You can check the results here, but TL; DR: the kids brought home a whole slew of hardware and a couple of trophies! Photos courtesy of John H. available in the Photos link above (password protected, email for password).  Well done, CRLS!

A quick note about donations. Thank you to all who have or are planning to donate funds for our regatta meals.  If you need Venmo, please see the attached QR code. Be sure to note that the money is for CRLS Crew so that FOCA sends it our way. If you have given cash, please email me directly so that I can make sure I have the correct amount attached to the correct name for tax purposes. I am working with FOCA to get tax receipts into the hands of all donors.  (This is important even if you don’t plan on actually using the receipt!)

Why are we always asking for money? Well, rowing is an expensive sport, and the school can only provide so much. (For example, the district is not allowed to purchase used equipment, so the parent board – and the parents- end up footing the bill.) With respect to food, as those families who have come out to watch our kids race can attest, regatta days are LONG days! Rowing takes a lot of energy, and that means a lot of fuel is needed, especially when the kids are on site all day and access to outside food sources is very limited. An important part of being a rower is providing your body with the right nutrients to produce the best results. Some kids can get the right foods on their own and some kids can’t. We work hard to make sure that ALL team members have access to healthy food on race days, which is why we need your help.  Please know that we appreciate everything that our families contribute. We cannot do this without all of you!

Next up are the Halloween Regatta (10/31) and the Pancake Breakfast (11/4); emails about each will be going out today.  The program also has a major anniversary coming up, so we’re working on plans for that. We’re also working on some gear and spirit wear options. Stay tuned!

Thanks again!
