What a whirlwind September is! The number of curriculum nights, school council meetings, IEP reviews – I’m already exhausted and I’m sure you are too. Please read the following reminders.
VARSITY CAREGIVERS: Some things have changed and we need your participation to make this season run smoothly. (Novice caregivers are hitting it out of the park in this capacity.) Please email us if you have questions, but please read our asks below!
1) Sweatshirt pickup for athletes
The final sweatshirt pickup for athletes will be this Friday at CBC from 4:45-6. If your athlete does not pick up their sweatshirt, we may reclaim their size to go to athletes who were unable to sign up by our order deadline. Please remind your athlete about this important team spirit item, and to see Ms Garcia on Friday!
2) Sign up for a Subcommittee!
We are hoping you will ALL sign up for a sub-committee (yes, this means you too Varsity Caregivers). Think of a Sub-Committee as the pool of players to draw on that reflects your interests!
We would like everyone to do a little something, to model teamwork, to increase community engagement and of course, to disperse the workload for the largest team at CRLS.
Sign up here: https://forms.gle/ ut4E2g6fUh1nZMDU8
Board members will contact you about participation through the season.
3) Gas
Gas is a huge burden for our coaches as it involves frequent filling and transporting. We have a couple of volunteers now. We had some kind offers to join the Maintenance and Boathouse Subcommittee to help with our GAS NEEDS but don’t have enough names. We really need you – please sign up above!
4) Boathouse Cleanout and Oar Painting Party
We are at capacity for the Boathouse Cleanout and Oar Painting Party this Saturday (see the website, crlsrowing.org for our current calendar). If you’re on the list, Victor and Shannon will be in touch with details! Thanks to Mary Kay for helping to organize.
5) Opportunities for Adult Rowing
We had a lot of questions about learning to row as an adult! We highly suggest giving Community Rowing a try, which is an inclusive program with a world-class facility (I row in a Masters sweep boat 3X a week). They have one more Intro to Sculling (one person, 2 oars) program this fall, and you can try out Sweeps (one oar, 8 people) in the spring.
If you have an interest in getting on the water, you can email Nonna Giunta at nonna@communityrowing.org for more information or follow the link below directly:
Thanks all – I’m dashing to another meeting at CRLS. Have a great night!
Warmly,
Izzy
